Further afield

Turn your visit into a break

With so much to see and do right on the doorstop of the ICC, you’d be forgiven for staying in the city centre. However, make sure not to forget about what else there is to explore if you head just a little further out. Jump in the car or grab a train to one of these quintessentially English locations of outstanding beauty.

Stratford-upon-Avon

Fondly known as Shakespeare Country, if you’re looking for a break from all the business talk we recommend heading to the home of the world’s greatest wordsmith. Steeped in history, this beautiful riverside town is also home to Harvard House, The Butterfly Museum and the Falstaff Experience.

Ironbridge

Located within an hour’s drive of the ICC, Ironbridge was named after the world’s first iron bridge. While the name itself may be quite unremarkable, the views that wait are quite unmissable. In addition to the stunning Ironbridge Gorge, you’ll also find a host of award-winning museums spread long the River Severn Valley.

The Cotswolds

Rolling hills, endless meadows and honey-colour limestone villages galore. Hardly surprising the ridiculously picturesque Cotswolds is one of England's most visited destinations. Located just 90 minutes’ drive from Birmingham city centre, it provides the perfect excuse for a day spent exploring traditional English pubs and countryside.

Warwick

Easy to reach either by car or train, the historic market town of Warwick is an exciting mix of old and new, with antiques centres and tea rooms alongside fashion shops and art galleries. And the main attraction of course, the 11th Century medieval Warwick Castle. Go back thousands of years to explore jaw-dropping magic, myths and tales.
